A Week in Tuscany with David

Two years ago David led a group of friends and fans on a week-long cruise in a barge on a canal in France. It was a spectacular trip. How could we top that? How about a week-long stay at a castle in Tuscany during the spring of 2023? Well, in 2024 we organized a trip with David and fans but unfortunately, David wound up stuck at home, recovering from his mountain biking accident. However, onward we went and the group had a terrific week anyway, wining and dining, biking and touring, and we had Andy Gullahorn step in, covering for David all week long in fantastic musical style. 

But David missed the adventure, so we went back in 2025 with David, and it was an incredible experience. We enjoyed an unforgettable week of music in the castle that Dante had stayed and had found inspiration while in exile from Florence in 1311. Here every stone has a story to tell you, and who better to sing new stories than David Wilcox?

Perhaps it was David’s inspiring and spontaneous musical performances that brought our group of people together in such a meaningful way? We enjoyed a concert in the “temple” in the Casentino forest and we visited a monastery (also in the forest) to view the silent procession of the monks and the secret garden that lead to where Saint Francis once lived. We toured the quaint town of Anghiari including the famous Bugatti factory, and we joined a Tuscan mother and son who showed us how they make pasta and cheese and then hosted us in their dining room serving a meal based all the cheeses that they had made. Of course, we had a few wine tastings in the region, visited castles on Tuscan hilltops, and it goes without saying that we enjoyed languorous and delicious Italian meals - all while coming home to our “home” in the Porciano castle and cottages. Our hosts offered the friendliest of faces when we returned and they took great care of us.
